Welcome to Mintabie Area School

Mintabie Area School promotes a safe, caring and organised work environment that allows
staff and students to perform at a high level. Teaching and learning at the school is the
highest priority aiming at equality and excellence in education.

A partnership between the traditional owners of the land, miners, ethnic groups, staff and students allows a joint school community exercise that promotes quality outback education. Students undertake a comprehensive and enriching curriculum, including the SA Certificate
of Education (SACE). All students wishing to gain their SACE have been supported, with a
100 per cent success rate. All those aiming for tertiary courses have gained entry to their preferred option at university or TAFE.

Several TAFE courses have been provided, including CDX automotive, Certificate in Hospitality and Certificate 2 in Opal Cutting. Mintabie has a partnership agreement with the Open Access College and senior students can undertake OA subjects assisted by support lessons from Mintabie staff. The school provides a healthy eating program three days a week, which, combined with compulsory fitness each morning for all R-10 students, enhances student wellbeing.
